Your Board of Directors are a TEAM, and there is no I in team. This means that everyone has the same amount of input, no matter their position on the board. While we welcome member input on our board positions, the actual officers' positions are determined by the board members at their first official meeting, but rest assured that no one officer has more influence over another. We are a team, and we make decisions as such. Thank you!
Your 2018-2019 Board of Directors
I’m originally from the Pacific Northwest, where we had a small
farm and for many years I taught horsemanship, raised and
trained horses. As I lost the ability to ride, I began developing an
interest in dog training.
Many dogs later, I’ve learned that while I may have made
mistakes with my dog training, I’ve learned so very much from
those mistakes made with each dog.
When we bought our first German Shepherd, I became involved
in dog sports. Holly taught me so very much about training and
competition - and also about my limitations. She is the dog that
has sparked my interest in continually learning all I can about
training dogs and my love of serious working dogs.
My current dog, Fels, is kept busy as my service dog and by
training in herding, nose work, barn hunt, agility, obedience,
hiking and swimming.
I have been a member of SUDS for 6 years, and am currently serving on the Board as Vice President and Training Director. I have been training and showing dogs for 30+ years. I have competed and titled dogs in obedience, rally, confirmation, flyball, dock diving, tricks and agility. I am a certified evaluator for Therapy Dogs International, Inc., and AKC's Canine Good Citizens, and a member of APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers). I also enjoy hiking and kayaking with our dog Charlie.
Heidi has been a SUDS member since January 2014 when Moki, their miniature Australian Shepherd,
enrolled in puppy class. In August 2015 she was elected to the board and became treasurer in August
2016. Heidi has both a BA and MS in mathematics and taught both college-level dance and math.
Currently Moki is a therapy dog and is working toward agility titles with 6 Q’s to her credit.
I have been a member of SUDS for four years. I am currently serving as President and also fulfilling the duties of Social Secretary – sending out cards, updating the “Welcome Letter” to new members, and putting together the new member packet. I have been in charge of lawn maintenance at the field, adjusting sprinklers, etc. Our membership has grown this year and we have many active new members. We have had agility demos, an agility seminar, invited speakers to our meetings, and enjoyed fun times with our four-legged friends. I have two Border Collies and an Australian Cattle Dog and compete in AKC and NADAC agility trials, titling dogs in both venues. I have a twenty-five year history of training Thoroughbred and AQHA race horses in the Pacific Northwest. I work from home as a legal transcriptionist. I’ve enjoyed SUDS and the many friends I’ve met and new adventures that keep coming up!
I have served on the Board since 2013, mostly filling the Secretary position. I joined SUDS after getting a new puppy and wanting to teach her agility. My eyes were opened to the world of dog sports and my heart filled with joy. I now enjoy Obedience, Rally, Agility, Dock Diving, Disc Dog, Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing, and, Paddleboarding and Tricks with my 4 dogs. I am always looking forward to more!
